Grant Program

Funds awarded are intended to be used to defray the cost of attending a 4-H event, competition, or activity. Activities that are considered are (but not limited to): 4-H county, district, state, regional or national shows; judging team competitions, camps, training events; 4-H Legislature, 4-H University, SE Dairy Retreat. Other events can be considered but will be approved by the Foundation Board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any active Hillsborough County 4-H member ages 8-18 who is enrolled in the Hillsborough County 4-H program and is in good standing with their Hillsborough County 4-H club is eligible to apply for a grant including those in their first year of membership. This may include your first year as a member. Applicants should be actively exhibiting or competing in their 4-H project area(s) and may have volunteered in 4-H community service projects during the current 4-H year.

Applicants must follow all grant program rules and submit their application within the required deadline. Parents can assist with filling out the application. Applications must be signed and can be submitted as a hard copy, scanned and emailed, or through an electronic signature process.

Other events related to the 4-H project can be considered but will be approved by the Foundation Board.

The Hillsborough County 4-H Youth Foundation’s Grants & Scholarship Committee is comprised of Hillsborough County 4-H Youth Foundation Board members. As applications are received, they are reviewed by the Committee who then considers each grant request. The Committee and the Foundation will work together to make all final decisions.
Applications for grants are due on the fourth Monday of each month. Please apply as far in advance of your event date as possible, but no later than four (4) weeks prior to the due date for your event.

Foundation grants are intended to defray the cost of attending a 4-H event. Grant awards should not exceed 50 percent (50%) of the total cost of attending the event. Exceptions may be considered by the Grants & Scholarship Committee under extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Each 4-H member can apply for up to two grants per 4-H year. The Board may make exceptions due to extenuating circumstances. Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
