4-H Youth Foundation & Volunteer Grants Program

Funds awarded are to be used to defray the cost of 4-H leaders or volunteers working with 4-H members who travel to a 4-H event, competition, or activity such as: county, state, regional or national 4-H shows, 4-H judging teams and other competitions, 4-H camps and training events, 4-H Legislature, 4-H University, SE Dairy Retreat, Rock Eagle and more. Funding will be awarded as determined by the Hillsborough County 4-H Foundation’s Grants & Scholarships Committee.

Active Hillsborough County 4-H leaders or volunteers who are involved in the Hillsborough County 4-H program and are assisting Hillsborough County 4-H Club members with expenses to attend 4-H events are eligible to apply for a grant. Applicants can also apply for assistance for themselves to attend educational events such as Rock Eagle to improve their leadership skills.

Applicants must follow all grant program rules and submit their application within the required deadline. Applications must be signed and can be submitted as a hard copy, scanned and emailed, or through an electronic signature process.

The Hillsborough County 4-H Youth Foundation’s Grants & Scholarships Committee is comprised of Hillsborough County 4-H Youth Foundation Board members. As applications are received, they are reviewed by the Committee who then considers each grant request. The Committee and the Foundation will work together to make all final decisions.

Applications for grants are due on the fourth Monday of each month. Please apply as far in advance of your event date as possible, but no later than four (4) weeks prior to the due date for your event.

Funds awarded are intended to be used to defray the cost of attending a 4-H event, competition, or activity. Activities that are considered are (but not limited to): 4-H county, state, regional or national shows; 4-H judging team competitions, camps, training events; 4-H Legislature, 4-H University, SE Dairy Retreat, Rock Eagle. Other events can be considered but will be approved by the Hillsborough County 4-H Youth Foundation Board.

Foundation grants are intended to defray the cost of attending a 4-H event. Grant awards should not exceed 50 percent (50%) of the total cost of attending the event. Exceptions may be considered by the Grants & Scholarships Committee under extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
Each leader or volunteer can apply for up to two grants per year. The Board may make exceptions due to extenuating circumstances. Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

      2. One essay 500 words or fewer explaining more about the event, why you would like to attend and what you hope to learn by attending.
